FhG-IISB

At the heart of all activities pursued by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, lies the research dedicated to practical applications. Founded in 1949, the research organization undertakes applied research that drives economic development and serves the wider benefit of society. Its services are solicited by customers and contractual partners in industry, the service sector and public administration. The Fraunhofer Society has about twenty thousand employees worldwide and hosts 67 individual institutes, one of which is the Fraunhofer IISB. The institute recently has about 200 employees plus numerous students and together with its partners from industry and academia, the Fraunhofer IISB develops processes, materials or equipment for the semiconductor industry in micro- and nano-electronics. With its portfolio the IISB spans the whole value chain from crystal growth to devices. The research and development of IISB is to the majority bound to power electronic systems for energy efficiency and automotive applications.
